Manage multiple email accounts in Gmail

You can now choose the reply-to address in Gmail for your various email accounts. My public email account (the one I use to sign up for stuff etc) forwards all email to my private account. This new feature now allows me to choose what the reply to address will be for all my email accounts. So if someone sends an email to thelastminute@gmail.com and I respond to that email from my private account I can choose what the reply-to address will be. If you forward other email accounts to your Gmail you'll want to use this.

Right Click Upload to Flickr

If you're using OSX Tiger and Flickr you might be interested in the ability to send images to Flickr by right clicking and hitting send. This is useful if you use Flickr for image hosting for your blog or you just want a really quick way to upload images to Flickr.

• Download Fraser Speirs' Flickr Automator Uploader (direct link to .zip)
  Unzip and follow the steps in the Readme
  Open Automator (in your applications folder)
  Add the Flickr Action to your workflow (you can search flickr and it should show up if you did #2 correctly)

• Use your flickr login (email@server.com) as the username and add some tags and privacy settngs.

• Click File, Save As Plug-in (name it Save to Flickr or whatever) and choose finder in the drop down menu.

• Now right click on an image(s) anywhere in the finder and choose Automator -> Save to Flickr (whatever you named it) and your images are sent off to Flickr with the tags/privacy settings you chose.

This automator action can be used in a number of interesting ways. For example I made a timelapse with it. You can combine it with other automator actions to do whatever you need. You could use Automator to crop 100 images and then upload to them all to Flickr at the end. If you want to loop your automator actions you can use this.

If you want to take some screenshots and upload them to Flickr use these shortcuts:

• ⌘-shift-3 (whole screen)
  ⌘-shift-4-drag box (whatever you select)

Images are then saved to your desktop as Picture 1, Picture 2... Now its as easy as right clicking them to upload to Flickr...

Bill Gates surfs pr0n and video blogs

I thought this candid interview with the wealthiest person on the planet was quite interesting. In this part of the interview he talks about what he does online. Interestingly, he spends some of his time using Hotmail and checking out "video sites":

Gates says:

"I did a review recently of all the video sites out there and it really blew my mind. I knew about a few of them but theres is dozens and dozens. The whole idea of video on the internet, which we started betting on with our Microsoft TV thing way too early over 12 years ago but now its becoming real. Whether it's delivering to the pc or through the IPTV stuff we're doing with with people like AT&T or Bell South actually to the TV set very directly. And so this idea that it's not just telephony but that it's also TV and not TV as we used know it. TV with interaction and personaliaztion without this channel concept with the total choice of what you want including the physics lecture that you're the only one who cares about or the local high school team that very few people would want to watch. It's a revolution and so I try and go to alot of those websites and get a sense of how that's changing and when will video be a big part of the experience."

Apple goes Postal

Apple is at it again -- making TV ads that bear an uncanny resemblance to music videos.

Apple's latest TV advert, touting Intel chips inside its new Macs, is remarkably similar to a music video from The Postal Service for the song "Such Great Heights."

This video demostrates a paintbrush that can paint whatever it touches.  The brush was created by Kimiko Ryokai, Stefan Marti, and Hiroshi Ishii.

"I/O Brush is a new drawing tool to explore colors, textures, and movements found in everyday materials by "picking up" and drawing with them. I/O Brush looks like a regular physical paintbrush but has a small video camera with lights  nd touch sensors embedded inside.
