Gene Kelly goes hip hop in this awesome Singin in the Rain VW ad. (~5MB .mov) VIA Coudal.
Some people think the ad is creepy but I think its brilliant... The idea of Blingin in the rain is pure genius.

You should go back to a film called 'BREAKIN'(1984) where a young break dancer dances with a magic broom ala Gene Kelly...so you see we are back to the future with VW's commercial...

I love this and Citroens Dancing Robot advert. I have the song for Citroens advert and downloading the one now from the VW advert. My question is How did they make it? Now as a media student I feel I should figure this one out. My best bet is they did the same as The Polar Express which was get someone to walk around and get the netting of a human then put on his face and then using a computer were able to change movements like the hands (if you watch how he moves his hands they look very animated not real). Thats how I think they did it.

Mewski, Moving Pictures did the VFX for this. Here's a press release with a detailed description of what they did: http://www.moving-picture.com/htmlsite/i_sectionspress.php?id=82§ion=commercials
Basically, the three dancers were composited together w/ Gene Kelly's head
Here's an interview w/ Elsewhere, one of the dancers. The reason the hands look animated is because he's insane. :)

Ive seen on TV the Heineken ad, the moves in the ad are much more crazy/fantastic than the VW Golf GTI one. Yet, its nowhere to be found on the web, I searched everywhere.
